Energy volunteers swap cables for stables

A team of our colleagues switched cables for stables at a volunteering day in North Hampshire.

A team of volunteers spent the day at Miller’s Ark Animals in Hook, Hampshire, as part of our Donate a Day initiative.

There was little horsing around for our 40 volunteers from the local Aldershot office – where they were tasked with cleaning and preparing stables to be open to the public. Miller’s Ark Animals is a working farm and petting zoo, hosting pigs, donkeys, ducks, horses and more.

Donate a Day is our employee volunteering programme that gives staff the opportunity to spend two paid working days a year to supporting a charitable cause of their choice. Whether it's lending a hand at a local food bank, helping out at a community garden, or spending time at a farm and petting zoo, staff members are encouraged to step away from their desks and make a meaningful impact in the community. So far this year 967 days have been completed.

The team were delighted to help and support another local community enterprise, it was a fantastic team building opportunity away from the normal day job, making a real difference at Miller’s Ark Animals and enjoying some fresh air and countryside.

The impact of having extremely good volunteers coming in and helping out means that we get a lot of the jobs done much quicker, allowing us to spend more time with the animals and make sure that they get the care they need. So it is really appreciated that we get this help.
