National Apprenticeship Week 2025

As part of National Apprenticeship Week, we are proud to share the inspiring story of Wesley Williams, 42, from Crowborough, East Sussex, who is currently training to be a cable jointer and substation fitter at Gatwick.
At UK Power Networks Services, we believe in supporting and investing in our apprentices to ensure they receive the tools, information, and lifelong skills they need to succeed. Wesley is a shining example of this commitment.
Wesley, previously an electrician, decided to change the direction of his career and is now thriving in our two-year Advanced Apprenticeship Programme. Working with UK Power Networks Services has been a transformative experience for him.
Wesley said:
Wesley is now focusing on being the best jointer he can be with aspirations to progress within the company, hopefully as a jointing instructor. His dedication and passion for his new role have been evident from day one. He is determined to excel and make a lasting impact within the company.
