Our colleagues have been busy transforming part of the site at Shears Green Junior School in Northfleet, in time for the new term.
The 22-strong team from Chatham removed fencing, painted a pergola, built desks and planters - and fixed finger protection plates onto doors to make them safer - before the 500 pupils returned this week.

Lead operational engineer Steve Grant said:
The team put in a tremendous effort and managed to complete all the jobs - I bet many slept well that night! The school staff repeatedly thanked us for our efforts and it was a very worthwhile day.
Having the support of 22 volunteers made a massive difference and enabled us to complete projects that would have otherwise been out of reach. In a time of stretched budgets, the opportunity to have a team of volunteers carry out such a wide range of work in just one day was invaluable.
The children were absolutely delighted to see the improvements on their first day back — it really set a positive tone for the new school year.
