UK Power Networks Services marks 20 years of support to nation's Defence networks
UK Power Networks Services is marking a significant milestone as it celebrates 20 years of delivering resilient, modern and secure electrical infrastructure across Defence estates.
Since the partnership began in 2006, the organisation has played a central role in ensuring the supply of power to some of the UK’s most critical Defence sites.
Over the past two decades, UK Power Networks Services has evolved from the initial mobilisation and renewal of legacy networks into a mature, strategic infrastructure programme that delivers substantial resilience and value for Defence clients.
The organisation has modernised and upgraded ageing electrical networks across complex and high‑security environments while supporting extensive new‑build programmes and ensuring that power systems meet the highest Defence standards.

The partnership has also reinforced long‑term resilience across Defence estates, preparing them to meet evolving operational demands and emerging threats. Sustainability and Net Zero principles have been integrated into planning and delivery, helping Defence organisations reduce carbon impact while improving overall energy security.
In addition to the long-term contract, UK Power Networks Services has widened its defence sector footprint and worked throughout the UK at major defence establishments, from Portsmouth Naval Base, across Salisbury Plain and Aldershot with Project Allenby Connaught, and even reaching the Outer Hebrides in strengthening infrastructure resilience, supporting operational readiness and enabling vital Defence activities to continue without disruption.
